I’ve been reading the books of the BCSR, i.e., books in the vein of, or outright stealing fromBridget . You know how they go: girl meets boy, girls falls for boy, boy turns out to be a complete asshole, havoc ensues, etc. So far, the tips are few and far between. (I did learn a nice eyelash-curling trick.) But I have faith; the cumulative effect alone should cull some results. Don’t you think? Unfortunately, in the meantime, they’re only stirring up thoughts of Charlie. So many ex-boyfriends in these things! I compare the heroine’s horror stories to my own, and inevitably contemplate the specifics of number 48 on my life plan.

I know the longer I put it off, the worse it will be. I’ll get myself all twisted up in knots about it, and blabber and blubber about it with the girls till I’m blue in the face. Then, some random night, I’ll run into him at a bar and spill my guts in an unintelligible drunken rant. Not a pleasant thought. I guess I’m going to have to bite the bullet and get it over with.
